missing edge segment of imported svg image

I have imported a fairly simple svg image.  I'm trying to now select all of the outer edge segments and I seem to be missing an edge segment.  Is there a way to fix this within fusion 360?  I did re-evaluate my original svg file within adobe illustrator and found nothing out of normal.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

Can you send me the .svg file? I am curious to see if perhaps there is an export setting within Illustrator that we can change. I do know that Fusion does not accept polylines and needs to have splines in order to read it correctly. Also, depending on the curve of the line we most certainly can recreate it in Fusion! Seeing the file will give me a better idea however.

Thanks,

It appears that if I import the svg file without scaling it; then there
isn't a line segment issue anymore. However, I am now having difficulty
adding a .20 inch fillet around the top outside and top inside edge after
extruding the image to 1 inch high.

Attached is the svg file.

Hi @Anonymous,

Whoops! Looks like the SVG file didn't attach. Now that you have the import working, can you just share a public link to the Fusion design you are working on (this may be easier than attaching the file). To do this, right click the file in your Data Panel and select Share Public Link. Making sure the download option is checked off, copy the link and then paste it in here and I can then download it. I'll check to see why the fillet is failing.

Thanks,

Ahh, bad news Smiley Sad

I think the "Download" check box was unchecked when you shared the public link as I have no option to download the model, only to view it. Can you try again with the option checked? If it is checked, let me know and we can try to diagnose that.

Sorry about all the hassle in sending me the file!

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous,

I've been playing around with this and I wonder if there are errors in how this was built in Illustrator. When it comes in there is an issue with one of the lines on the outer edge (once I fixed that I was able to get the outer edge filleted!), but the inner sketch, is very faceted and there are a few skewed lines that cause the fillet to fail. You can see this demonstrated in my screencast below and I believe this is why the fillets are failing.

Thanks,

I can't seem to find the "screencast" you spoke of. Can you share that
with me again?

Thank You

Ok. Thank you. Do you believe I need to re-draw the entire object in
illustrator in order to add a fillet to both the outside and inside edges?

Thank You!

Hi @Anonymous,

Honestly, no. I would just create a new sketch on the same plane (so that origin plane), and then trace over the old sketch using splines. Try not to snap to the existing points from your SVG file as you will end up with many little line segments. http://a360.co/2bOqDn4 is a link to my recreated version with the fillets. Please note that for the inside loop that I redrew, I also had to offset it smaller as the web of the toe came too close to the original inner sketch when extrude and the fillet would fail there as well. If you review my Sketch 2, you can see how I recreated the loop. Hope that helps!
