Mirror/Flip

I am looking to create a left hand version of the attached.  I have played around with mirror and also tried some other things and after 2 hours I realize that I don't know what I am doing.  Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks you..

You did not specify but I am assuming you want it mirrored about the length.  If not let me know.  I used the technique outlined in this Blog Article and Video.  Model is attached.

Here is another version that isn't self explanatory 😉

You'll have to be a bit more specific on how you want to use these mirrored Angles.

This is great information, but also seems complex to me at my skill level.  I will review the video several times to see if it sinks in.  Thanks.

What you have done is what I am looking for.  Can you please explain how you did this?  Thanks..

@jhackney1972 and my solution are almost identical.

I first create a copy of the existing body.

Then I scale that body non-uinformly to -1 along the Y-Axis, which effectively mirrors it across the XZ-plane.

However, this is tricky as Fusion does not allow you to type -1 into the field. hose fields only allow positive values.

To circumvent this, I first create a user parameter with a positive 1 scale value

Then I replace the fixed value in the YH-Filed with the user parameter and accept with OK.

Now I go back to the user parameter Panel and change the scale_factor to -1.

I now have the original and mirrored body.

Then I converted the two bodies into components.

I see the one body and also see the copy command when I right click on the body.  I don't know how to create the second body to work from.  Sorry for my ignorance and thanks to you and @Johnhackney1972.  Some things in Fusion seem so much more complicated that auto cad to me.

You could also just mirror the body and then convert both bodies into components.

Would it be too much to ask to use my file to make a quick video using the steps that you are both utilizing.  I seem to have followed along to a point, but I am not getting the same results so I am obviously doing something wrong.  Thanks so much.

Since you asked me directly, I will be happy to create a video.  How you handle the body/component will be up to you.  I created a small assembly and added your original component to it first and then the video picks up to create the component mirror as a new UNIQUE component in the assembly.  This is the same process I used in the Blog Article and Video I sent earlier.  I did not attach my model as it will probably be of no use to you.

By the way, you mentioned AutoCAD in one of your earlier post.  Please not the proper name for the application.

out of curiosity, what about just using mirror doesn't work for you?

It didn't.  Maybe I was selecting things incorrectly.  I will try that again.

I did neglect to ask one thing.  For machining purposes, how can I select the second body?  If I try a new set up, it wants me to work from the original design.

If you keep both angles as bodies, in the Manufacturing Environment, you new setup will be directed to the mirrored angle using the Stock Tab under setup.  Select the new body.  If this is not what you need, attach your model you are taking to the Manufacturing environment.

So the key here is to select "From Solid" Got it.  Looks like it worked.  Now I can duplicate all of my tools and settings from the first body and add them to the new set ups.  Thank you..

Is there a way for me to save all of these great videos locally for the future when I forget steps?  Thanks..

No, but you can view them over again if you like by following the process outlined in the attached video.  The only problem with this method is that Autodesk does not offer indexing of the videos, the only thing they do is place them in order they were posted by time.  So if you go to my videos, today, and click on page 80 you will see the video I posted today on the Forum.
