Midplane when using plane surfaces is dependant upon surface normales

Attempting to create a midplane between two planar surfaces with surface normals pointing in the same directions causes the midplane to be created not between the two faces but outside of the space between the two planes. I don't think this is the intended behaviour.

Please attach an f3d file of your model, mid plane works fine for me.

Not seeing the problem in a test file I made. Only times I've seen these type of problems it been where one or both surfaces are in components that have been moved or positioned with joints.
