Mesh Workspace

Just watched Paul's status update on Youtube regarding the mesh workspace.  Excellent stuff!  This looks a lot like the type of tools available in Meshmixer.  I was not aware that efforts were underway to integrate this type of functionality into Fusion.  Is there additional information available regarding the new mesh environment?  Goals, time table, first step leading to slicer capability, etc?  I was not included in the March update so I assume it is slated for later this year.  The preview looks promising.  Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

I posted this video of the mesh workspace development in response to a discussion on the Tips and Tricks forum.  We haven't identified a specific release for this mesh workspace but we did want to show the community we are investing effort in this area.  There have been many discussions regarding the use of meshes on the forum and we have solicited input for this project as well.  As I mentioned in the video the workspace is built upon Meshmixer technology but will have the same familiar Fusion 360 interaction.  An important part of the work included the ability to manage large numbers of facets with good performance.

These have been the goals of the project in order of priority.

  1. Prepare mesh models for 3D printing.
  2. Open, analyze and repair meshes for downstream operations.
  3. Utilize mesh for traditional modeling including curve and surface extraction.
  4. Sculpt mesh for form development.

Thanks for your interest and your patience.
