I'm looking for a tutorial on connecting iron or steel threaded pipe and the fittings.  I can't seem to get them to mate together.

Hi,

take a look at at the joints in "Assemble" register.

I find It's much easier to join the objects using a joint then add threads afterwards. Ive run across the same issue as you and this is still to my knowledge and experience the easiest way around that

OK Thanks.  I'm really new to this application so I am learning as I go.

So the McMaster parts that I imported already have the threads on them.  I'm just looking to join them together.

Ah I see what you mean. Try creating a sketch and finding exact center of the part with threads, then use the joint tool (shortcut is J) and join it to the center point on the sketch instead of trying to use the joint tool right on the threaded rod or whatever exactly it is you're trying to join. Can be a pain joining threaded objects and haven't personally come across a perfect solution

I had no idea you could CTRL click when using the joint selection. That's going to help me a lot in the future!!
