Marking midpoint in sketch?

I want to orient a sketch to the zero coordinates of the model space.  When I tey to move from point to point I'm unable to select the mid point on a line.  In another instance I was not able to select the zero point itself.

Hi @smallfavor.

When you select Midpoint constrain, you have to click in two things:

1. The entity you want to "find" the midpoint and constrain (move) to another location. This constraint will not  show you where that midpoint is. If you want a visual reference, you could add a point, for example;

2. The place where that midpoint will be located.

In you case, it should work click in the line then click in the origin.

I don't think I've ever had to use an actual Midpoint constraint. The piece you're missing is that the sketch environment sometimes hides midpoints by default, probably to keep down clutter. Just hold down the Shift key as you're sketching or adding constraints and the midpoints will pop right up.

In you case, just select the Coincident constraint, hold Shift, pick the midpoint, then pick the origin.

Please take a look at the attached Screencast for the process you asked for.  Please consider using the Autodesk Screencast application to created future videos to attach to your forum questions.  They integrate directly and do not require the use of another application to view.

Select a point in the sketch pallet and place it at midpoint. For placing exactly, hold the shift down and hover over the line you'll get the mid point. Select it to place it. Then you can snap to origin by holding and dragging wherever you want it to be.

Hope that helps you.

This is so easy - Attach your *.f3d file here and someone will create video demonstration using your actual geometry.
