Make it go away

A purple point remains at the origin of a construction plane even though I was able to move a sketch that had been anchored to it.  I can't delete it.  Using the fix/unfix command is not instructive as it never indicates the state of a selected object - wheter that object is fixed or unfixed.  In any case the color doesn't change unless I can manage to highlight it and it then shows blue but still cannot be deleted or move or anything else.

Is there some more in depth tutorials on the sketching functions that would anticipate such confusing things so one can waste less time trying to guess what the f- is wrong?

Please share your design, or at least a screenshot/screencast of what you are seeing.

you say "A purple point remains at the origin of a construction plane".  A workplane itself does not have any points to it, so there must be a sketch attached to that workplane.  That's just a theory, though, without seeing the design I can't say for sure.

Hi @smallfavor

You can try window selecting the point, right click and Break link.

Maybe you can.  I've tried that and it remains a nuisance.  That's why I've posted.

Sorry to hear this dot is bothering you.

Looking at the model there are a few of these dots.

In this video, I find the dots in Sketch 3 and delete them.

If you are actually talking about the origin projection dot in the Rail sketch, it cannot be deleted for some reason. The sketch has been moved away from the origin and that dot is a projection of the origin. There must be some rule that preserves the origin of your 3D sketches.

The way to avoid this is to not move your sketches around. That is typically a workflow that people use to make 3D sketches, and your design could be made with 2D sketches. Instead of moving the sketch, why not create a workplane where you wish to sketch and start a sketch on it? Give it a try, I think it will help your workflows.

Steps:

1. New file, turn on origin. Use Offset Plane to create a construction plane where you want to sketch.

2. Add a numerical offset. This is a parameter and can be edited later if you wish to change the location of the sketch plane.

3. Start sketching!

If the dot still bothers you, the only remedy I know of at the moment is to turn off the visibility of the sketch itself. It doesn't look like you need the sketches to be visible in your design.

Please let us know if this helps.

It appears you have moved the "Rail" sketch after compiling it on one of the Origin planes. If that is the case then I would imagine that that sketch must always be referenced to the origin. Hence the indelible point at the origin.

Hope I have read the problem correctly.
