We started using your software from 30th Dec 2016. We appreciate your work, but have encountered the following issues in the software & want some developments on the same.

1.       Constraining problem in two sub-assemblies – parts do not remain constrained in main assembly.

2.       Sketch do not show it’s fully constrained even when all the dimension are given.

3.        All constrains are in distances & dimensions which makes assembling difficult.

(Plane to plane/ axis to axis/ edge to edge constrain should be provided for perfect assembling)

4.       Imported parts do not get constrained in assembly.

5.       Even after grounding/ fixing, objects move.

6.       Any changes made in part model do not get updated in main assembly.

7.       Library of standard parts missing. (too short)

8.       Any intersection or error in assembly is not highlighted.

9.       Customized coil (spiral) feature is not available.

10.   Sheet metal feature not yet available.

This should really be in the main forum. The Ideastation is for requests and should have one idea per request. I'll ask for this to be moved so you can get more help.

@Anonymous,

I have responded to your questions in blue below:

1.       Constraining problem in two sub-assemblies – parts do not remain constrained in main assembly.

We keep our feature structure flat so that it is flexible, this is a little different that other CAD programs.  Please take a look at this recording of a class that I helped teach on this topic.  http://au.autodesk.com/au-online/classes-on-demand/class-catalog/2016/fusion-360/pd19577#chapter=0

2.       Sketch do not show it’s fully constrained even when all the dimension are given.

Fully constrained in sketch is still in preview, if you have example of sketches that are fully constrained, but not showing that they are please share them with me.  mike.prom@autodesk.com

3.        All constrains are in distances & dimensions which makes assembling difficult.

(Plane to plane/ axis to axis/ edge to edge constrain should be provided for perfect assembling)

Please review the video from question #1

4.       Imported parts do not get constrained in assembly.

You are able to apply joints to imported parts inside a model, can you please give some examples?

5.       Even after grounding/ fixing, objects move.

Please review the video from question #1

6.       Any changes made in part model do not get updated in main assembly.

If you make a change to a part that is inserted into another model, you must right click on the inserted part in the browser and update the model.  In Fusion 360 we have built in data management where we save versions, meaning you don't save over your model with each save.

7.       Library of standard parts missing. (too short)

The McMaster Carr option under insert is our solution for what you are calling standard parts.

8.       Any intersection or error in assembly is not highlighted.

To see where the model intersects use the interference feature under inspect.

9.       Customized coil (spiral) feature is not available.

You are correct we do not have this feature, it is something we are considering for the future.

10.   Sheet metal feature not yet available.

There will be a private preview starting tonight for users interested in providing feedback while we continue to finish the development for our first release.  If you would like to be considered to be a part of this preview, please respond.

Regards,

Mike Prom

@Anonymous,

I have added you to my list.  In the upcoming weeks I will be adding additional users to the preview.

Cheers,
