look at not paning to the sketch

Is it a bug or by design? When choosing "Look At" it does not pan to the sketch you want to look at.

Testing in a simple drawing I found that at the beginning it does, after some manipulation it does not pan anymore. At some point it stopped working entirely.

Thank you for reporting this issue. The Look At command should orbit the model to look at a planar face (or sketch plane) from a normal direction. Are you using the Look At command located in the Sketch Palette, or the one in the Navigation bar (control bar at the bottom of the screen)?

What manipulation breaks the Look At command? Could you clarify the steps you are using to reproduce this issue?

Would it be possible to create an Autodesk Screencast recording of the issue and post it here?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for answering. I did a screencast. There you see that I created two sketches on different planes.

At first the "Look At" works as expected.

Then the more I zoom around the more "Look At" is missing the sketch. It orbits, but does not pan to the sketch.

Working on large models zoomed in makes you swing around to the different plane but with no ability to be able to orient yourself where you are in regards to the detail of the sketch you want to work on.

I would find an orbit and zoom to fit of the sketch you want to look at useful.

Thank you for taking the time to record the issue!

That does not look correct to me either! I apologize for that. I have created a report for development to review this issue (Reference number FUS-18423).

The link for the screencast was a bit garbled in your original post. I've placed it below in case anyone else would like to view it.

For next time, you can get a shortened link by using the share button in Screencast (see image below).

Thank you so much for reporting this. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Hi Leo, I've found an interesting tidbit that if you have everything deselected, and choose the Look At icon at the bottom of the screen (no where else), then click on the profile or face that you would like to look normal to, that actually works pretty well, often quite a bit better than the look at option from right clicking, or the one in the sketch pallete.  As an aside I also deactivate in preferences the "sketch auto look at when editing a sketch," as to me that can sometimes be a little disorienting.

Will be interesting if that specific Look At works for you.

Hi Jesse

Thank you for taking your time and sharing your tip! This saves me a lot of time while until they come up with the solution.
