Hi Guys,

Could someone please tell me (help me!!) how to create text around a ring.

Text is: Predikherenklooster Belgie.

See attached for the two rings. Text must come between the to rings. Hight of the letters are 300mm and width is also 300mm.

It's not clear where you want the text located.

1.  Arranged on the inner face of the rings.

2.  Arranged on the outer perimeter of the rings.

3.  Arranged in the white space between the rings with the tops and bottoms of the letters touching the rings.

I think he wants 3D letters to fill the vertical space between the two rings. My suggestion for that would be the sheet metal work space.

That is the most interesting way Smiley Happy

Manufacturing the letters may be a little tricky because of the taper on each one.

Wow that's it! I think it still will be hard for me to draw it, but thanks!

Here are the steps in the screencast:

  1. In Sheet Metal workspace:
  2. Create the sketch.
  3. Draw a circle with a diameter of 1150mm. (You can adjust this after you add the text to get the correct spacing between the beginning and end of the text)
  4. Draw two vertical lines from the center to the perimeter about .5 degrees apart.
  5. Trim the circle between the two vertical lines.
  6. Change the vertical lines to construction lines.
  7. Close the sketch.
  8. Create the first flange using the circle.
  9. Zoom in to see the gap clearly.
  10. Select one of the faces in the gap.
  11. Extrude it a short distance.
  12. Now you can use the outside face of that extrusion to unroll the first flange.
  13. Create a new sketch on the unrolled flange.
  14. Create and position the text in the sketch.
  15. Close the sketch.
  16. Extrude the text joining it to the unrolled flange.
  17. Re-roll the flange.
  18. Create a new sketch on the top view of the flange.
  19. Draw a circle that goes to the outer edge of the circular flange.
  20. Extrude|Cut the sketch circle from the circular flange.
