Loft with Arcs

Hello, I am trying to do a loft with rails, but it continuously says that my rail does not connect with the part. I have created the rail using arcs and splines. If I use lines, it allows me to do a loft, but not with arcs. Is this a problem with the user interface? My friend got it to work on his computer, so I am wondering if it has something to do with the settings or something. The points are coincident,so there should not be gaps there. Please help!!

Hi @sukhgewanpreet.singh

You approach seems a bit complicated. Have you considered using a Revolve with a profile instead?

Ben.

Hi,

The error message indicates that your rails are not properly intersecting the loft profiles. Note that each rail has to intersect all the selected profiles for loft with rails to work.  Alternatively, you could try using Centerline rail option (option next to "Guide Type" in the dialog), which does not have the intersection requirements that regular rails have.  But note that with centerline option you can only select one rail.

If it still doesnt work, you can attach the part to this thread and I can take a look and get back to you.

Regards,

Gautham

Make sure your rail is really intersecting. I've included 1 that seemed to be intersecting, but after closer examination it actually didn't.

The other did and the loft worked.

Could you use the simple geometry of an Extrude?  (see attached)

Why do you say that, look good to me.

Another option using an extrude cut.
