Local Render and cloud render are different....

Ok this drives me nuts, why does the local renders look different then the cloud renders?

You can see the white dashed lines at the bottom corners...then the white highlights on the floor around the feet......

This needs to be fixed, it shouldn't make any difference other then time to render between local and cloud rendering.

It appears that the local render uses a polygon lower resolution mesh then the cloud uses..........You can actually see faceting at the rounded edges on the local render but not on the cloud render.......

@Beyondforce @cekuhnen

That can already be done but then is still somewhat limited.

Simply define your emitting surface and assign one of the emitting materials and edit that to suit your needs. I've done that successfully to simulate the light effects for my LED lights.

However, Fusion 360's emitters are pretty weak. Thus, Thea is on my list of  next Software tools.

I guess for people who are using the free version of Fusion, that's fine. But if you are a professional and needs to show your work to customers, then it's a BIG no go!

But if you ask me, they are not trying to target the professionals with the current randering environment. Maybe one day they will add an extra team to deal with that.

Cheers / Ben.

@Beyondforce, light objects are on our list, hopefully out sometime this year.

I'm glad to hear that, music to my ears. If you guys need testers, I know at least one guy who will be happy to help 😉

Fusion 360 appears to me like a classic object renderer similar in aim to Keyshot. More aimed at ease of use than ultimate photorealism.

Also, in my experience in 25 years of attempting to create photorealistic renders , starting with the early ray traicing engine DKBtrace, I've come to appreciate that, yes, if you discuss your Renders on a CG forum, trained eyes will be able to shred the work you deemd good to pieces.

However, "normal" end customers that tont dabble in CG on a day to day basis are much more interested in the rendered product than what contortions you had to go through to achieve ultimate realism. I believe if you know what the Fusion 360 renderer is good at you can get to professional results very quickly.

A few months back I was invited to a phone conference with that rendering team , so they already have one 😉

Yeah I agree in many aspects. That is why I appreciate Thea that much. It has all you need.

A fast workflow. Easy to use UI. Easy to adjust material system. And a studio environment

that offers all the tools a photo person would need to set up a scene.

The moment GI and PBR became available I switched because I was tired of CG hacks to

maximise frame by frame render time.

Keyshot I feel today has a way to overloaded UI. Fusion's UI is pretty neat.

If they add lights as Colin stated in the plan, also add camera positions, and improve

the overall render speed which simply is not that great (sorry) then the render module

is a pretty great piece.

What I like about the concept is that it is rightly tight into Fusion.

The rendering team favors ease of use over advanced features for sure. (Actually the entire "Fusion Product" favors ease of use over advanced features). They are afraid to expose all the real parameters needed for photorealism because they feel it will overwhelm most users. The sad truth is CAD is not easy and is a constant learning process, if your not willing to take that trip get off the buss...

Sadly that means those of us that need a higher level of control have to use an external render to achieve that.... The current render has way bigger problems then just needing advanced light emitting functionality, and even the LOD that's being implemented I don't think is going to completely solve the performance issues in the current render....

the fact that we can not create our own PBR materials is a huge problem and I still can't believe we can't easily create and place custom cameras at exact locations.....

Right. But that still does not mean that you cannot create "professional" renders with Fusion 360.

Of course there's room for improvement!

One of my earliest posts in the Idea Station was for an interface for external render engines. Thea has been the first one but it is not nearly as tightly integrated into Fusion 360 as for example Luxrender or Octane Render are into Blender where the entire interface to the render engine is realized in Blender's native UI elements and rendering is directly in the Blender's viewport.

I've never found a single tool that can do everything I need, however. That's also not realistic as some of my needs are very specific.

I have achieved great results with Fusion's render....I just know the results could be better if I could create my own PBR materials and there were a few of the missing elements.

I actually prefer having a dedicated app for each specialized area. Keeps things clean and to the point.

I just wish all the apps out there would play nice with each other...that would be a dream come true.

A lot of Thea's best materials came straight from Substance Designer (my preferred rendering app) since you can use Substance materials in Thea...
