Linkage design in Fusion

I'm having trouble getting any work done for linkage design in Fusion. Sure, I can draw a linkage and it works, but that's not really linkage design. Has anyone found any good methods or had success with using Fusion for linkage design?

Thanks

Luke

Just curious what you expect beyond "...can draw a linkage and it works..."

It would help if we knew what more you need. 🙂

Hey Phil,

You can draw and joint linkages just fine in Fusion. Works really well.

However, there are no analysis tools. Can't get position, velocity, acceleration in CSV format for specified points. Cant get lever ratio graphs, etc. If we could get position data for specific points in CSV format that would be the first step to being able to do linkage design and analysis. Also, if you could show a trace of a point over a given range of motion that would also be extremely helpful and probably more in line with Fusion's workflows.

So you are looking for dynamic simulation tools. Unfortunately Fusion doesn't do this yet, and I'm not sure what is intended for any future addition of simulation tools.

Have you or anyone else requested this in the Idea Station?

I have not. Point location vs angle data in XYZ shouldn't be too difficult to script or program. Anyone who has done dynamic analysis can turn this data into a lot of useful stuff, but you need that basic dataset first.

Have you tried scripting in our API? Maybe another user has done this and can share.
