Joint support element to 2 elements

Hi folks,

I'm having a hard time aligning/jointing 2 support elements to a bench I drew.

The bench has 4 feet, 2 long stretcher and 2 short stretcher. I try to add 4 support elements and did this by drawing and extruding 1, then circular patterned the elements 4 times. However, due to my bench not being 100% proportional, I end up with 2 elements being mis-aligned.

I tried to position them with the joint tool using two edge intersection mode for the elements and simple mode for the long stretcher, but I can't seem to do this simply as parts often end up misaligned and I have to do multiple correction.

Any tip or advice?

I attached the source file and a video of the explanation.

In my opinion, this is a good place to create a sketch point, in the component, to use as a Joint origin.  When you create the first component, this sketch point would be added so it is copied to all instances.  In your case, you have already copies and depending on how you did your copies, it will be replicated in all.  That sketch point makes an ideal Joint origin to place the brace.

Hi John!

Thanks for your quick response. You make it look so easy!

Quick thought : the reason to sketch one bracket only and then copy it around is I want them all to be copies of one another, so they show up as one item in the part list / drawing section. Otherwise it would seem more easy to just sketch / extrude 2 brackets along the short or long stretcher and copy them along the center axis of the bench, which is also the origin of the model.

As I am fairly new to fusion, I am still trying to understand best practices so any thoughts/tips are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi,

If they are identical profiles, you can do it that way.
