Jewelry twisted wire design

I could use some help replicating the twisted design on this piece of jewelry.  I have tried extrude on a path with 1,2 4 and 5 circle elements, Coil and screw patterns. and have been unable to get the angle and tight twist pattern.  Your help would be appreciated.  Thanks,IMG_0896.jpeg

Sorry I am a newcomer to 3d design.  What does the pipe have to do with the design, example?

There are a few ways to do it, I use pipe for the reduction in sketching.

Pipe is the twisted coil in that picture, changing its diameter is quick and easier than adjusting a Sweep profile sketch dimension in some cases.

Back shortly with some pics to explain.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but it is one way of doing something like your picture. twist.JPG

Construct the centre line with Twist Sweep of a line in the Patch Area.

PswpCl.PNG

Add Pipe, so that there is no overlap / self intersection,

Revolve the casing,

Step up the timeline....

Yet another way would be using Pattern on Path.

Create the path using a sketch.

Create a Plane on path with Distance set to 0.

Create a torus(donut) at the plane angled at the pitch of the twist.

Use Pattern of Path to finish the twist portion of the model.

Thanks,  The torus idea work great.  It allowed me more degrees fo freedom to customize my design.

Is there anyway to sweep this twist in a full 360 degree circle? I keep getting intersection errors.

Thanks,

How did you get from Pattern on Path to Sweep?  Attach your file to the thread for diagnosis.

Using pipe is where I have a problem.

You just need to reduce the size of the pipe to .3mm or smaller.  The ring on the left is what it will look like. The right hand one is with a torus.

You may want to check the size of this as the diameter is only 3.5mm.

@etfrench  My example was Sweep Twisted, and Pipe.  Your sweep needs more revolutions and smaller diameter pipe, without being critical.

@g.isley  At the time, I had no idea of the size for the canvass, I mention having to adjust for self intersection.  So I bought the canvass in at 10 times bigger than default.  The pipe would do 7mm but not 7.5mm, looked ok, - as an example.

At life size things may still need adjusting, more Sweep revs, less pipe diameter.

Might help....

@davebYYPCU : The sweep is from the original file.  I just changed the size of the pipe.

Sorry, I was thinking you had started an example from scratch,

but from @g.isley file, then, the Sweep is not enough revs,  I had -8000 degrees, for the short section in my example, Don’t be alarmed with the huge number, work it out at 360 x revolutions required, plus or minus is for clockwise or anti clockwise.

Thanks to both of you for your input.  Here is the error I am encountering when I try to use pipe.  I do not see a diameter option.

You asked about the pipe diameter.  Section Size is the diameter of the pipe.
