I and making a robot track using rubber conveyor belt and bolting on treads on the outside. I extruded the rubber track, and in a separate drawing s sketched and extruded the tread. I then brought the tread into the track drawings and placed it on the track using a rigid joint. Then to pattern the tread around the track i used the pattern along path, it works great right up until i press "OK" in the dialogue box an then all the treads "fall off the track.

I am obviously missing something?

@chrisparris01,

Can you create a video or take a screen shot of before and after.  I am having issues with replicating the workflow you describe.

Thank you,

@chrisparris01,

I was unable to replicate your results.  Are you grounding or applying a joint to the origin to track before applying your joint to the tread?  Would you be willing to share you model?

Mike,

I did apply a joint, but did not ground the track, when I get back to my desktop i will try it and let you know. If not i will share my modle and take it fom there. Thank you.

After grounding the track, it was easy thank you. Unfortunatley the design concept has changed and I now have a problem joining the concaved wheels with the top bar of the chain. I want to align the wheels onto the top bar of the chain, so I can modle the rest of the machine with driver portion in place?

@chrisparris01,

The best way to accomplish what you are trying to do is the following:

1. Create a sketch with a point in the center of the arc

2. Create a joint origin

3. Use the joint origin when apply joints.

Here is a video showing the workflow.
