Hi guys. Id like to say thank you for all your help on previous posts as well.

Another little question to aid my learning.

Im looking to 3d Print images as the ones shown below. But i would like to edit them in fusion so i can add a layer of deapth to them and make the move using motors and pulleyes etc.

Is there a quick way that i can sketch these images?

Kind Regards.

@Anonymous

Select insert button at the top and then image.

Select a plane to put the image down on.

Create a new sketch on the same plane and start laying down splines, arcs, lines so on like this:

Hey, thank you for the quick and swift reply.

Thing is i had already drawn this once before in photoshop, was hoping to import it in without having to redo all the work.

@Anonymous

You can use Illustrator or Inkscape to convert your image file to svg or dxf then open that in Fusion 360.

Hi @Anonymous,

I run into this often, what you really want instead of an image file (like .jpg) is a vector art file (like .eps or .ai).

I take that vector art file and conver it to DXF and insert that ... no redrawing needed! (Note that colors do not stay, just the outlines).

If you do not have access to the original file, to output it as a vector art file, you will most likely need to redraw it. There is no way (I know of) to convert an image like a jpg to vector/lines arcs, etc. besides redrawing them - because a jpg does not contain lines, only pixels (zoom in and you'll see what I mean).

I usually keep my logos/images etc. as .eps files (nice for editing) or .dxf (nice for cutting, Fusion and our stencil printing machine also allows import of .dxf files).

Photoshop lets you save as .eps, then you just convert that to .dxf and import into fusion (I use an online eps to dxf convertor, I don't have a specific program).

Let me know if you need any help! Thanks!Smiley Very Happy
