Is it possible to zoom to mouse cursor?

I'm used to zoom to the mouse cursor so it acts like the center. In Adobe programs, when zooming with scroll wheel (touch pad), the center point is the cursor. I find my self getting really frustrated, when zooming in and out in Fusion 360, since the center of the object is the center point for zooming.

Have I missed the setting or is it not possible to do so?

Best regards

Umut

I dunno. When I roll my mouse button to zoom in and out, my cursor arrow position is the center of the zoom action.

Sorry, totally forgot about this post.

On my Mac, using touchpad, it always zooms towards the center of the screen and not the position of the mouse

This seems to be an issue that comes up every year or so. There are at least 3 individual request in the forum, but it never got dealt with. Please Autodesk, fix this!

With an external mouse it seems to work fine, but on a trackpad, Fusion does not zoom to the cursor. This makes working on a laptop really annoying and slow. I rarely need a mouse for working.

Thanks

Amen to that! I'm trying to do an assembly on my Mac and I get so frustrated zooming and panning all the time.

Apart from that I have to say: Fusion 360 is the best CAD-Software you can ask for. You Autodesk guys rock!!! 🙂

Hi,

Although I know that there are opinions that the trackpad should not have another device next to it, I give the tip to take a look at a 3D mouse.

I don't know of anyone, not even Mac users, who has voluntarily given it up after getting used to it.

Same issue with a Wacom Intuos tablet pen. I use it for everything, because forget mice. Hoping Autodesk will address these productivity killers! It takes me five times as long to zoom in as it does in Onshape, and I do it many times per minute many minutes per hour. It all adds up!

It doesn't zoom the cursor, It will be the smartest option in 360 which makes the work easy and simple.

Is this what you want it to do.  Note cursor position in the screencast:

Yes! That's the zoom behavior I've grown used to. But I'm using a Wacom Intuos tablet pen instead of a mouse and I read that elsewhere the two behave differently---that a mouse on Windows gives you the behavior you showed, while a trackpad (or, in my case, a tablet pen) just zooms to the center of the screen... 😞

I also want to pinch-zoom on a Mac trackpad (or regular zoom) from the location of the POINTER! Not from the center of the window!!! Zooming from the pointer location will save me about 12,000 pan-pan-pan-pan scooches every time I zoom. How can I do this?

Same here. This is still a live issue on MacOS with trackpad

ANSWER! On a Mac trackpad, to zoom from the cursor/pointer location (instead of from the center of the window): click-hold the trackpad, and 2-finger stroke down (zoom in) or up (zoom out). Yeah, a lot of fingers involved. I use my thumb for the click-hold. I stumbled on this today just by experimentation.

"Click-hold" means click down and do not let up.

Man I wish I could delete a comment...

Also, the problem with clicking and holding while 2 finger swiping is that it clicks off whatever was selected. What if I need to select 2 items that I can only access by zooming way into one, zooming way out, and zooming way into another?

Autodesk, can we please just make zooming as everyone ever would expect it, please? (It would always find the point of the cursor.)

This also deselects what you had selected... So that sucks.

autodesk: please please please allow this behavior by holding the control or command key instead of pressing on the trackpad with a 3rd finger.  this rarely works and it's less ergonomic.
