Is it possible to edit an older sketch in relation to a current change?

In my current case I have created a sketch and revolved it around a part which I previously created. However, I found it necessary to modify that first part. I would like to see how the original sketch relates to the newly shaped part. Is that possible. From what I can tell the editing of a sketch will always show the sketch in relationship to the parts as they appeared at the time the sketch was first created.

Update:

I just found that I can modify the sketch without going into edit mode. Very nice and that solves my current problem. I can see the exact relationship of the sketch to my current design. So this is solved and I am leaving the post here because it was a problem for me for many months that I had not tried to figure out until now.

It might be helpful to note that there is a show dimension command on the right click menu of the sketch that can be helpful. This will let you edit the dimension without need to edit the sketch first.
