Hi @Anonymous,
Welcome to the community!
There are different ways to open or import or translate files in Autodesk Fusion 360. You can either use the Autodesk Translation Framework in the cloud or Use locally installed translators to open files (these methods will work while in offline mode). Please see this article to learn more about uploading/importing files to Fusion 360.

I just tried it and it worked fine for me.
Can you attach *.ipt file here that you cannot double click to open from data panel?
Is the file an iPart? Is it a Derived Component?
Does it have Adaptive sketches/features?
i dont have an upload button in the data panel or anywhere else. what is wrong???
HI @veganagev,
Could you show us what your data panel currently looks like with a screenshot? Here is the new updated view which is accessed in the top left corner of Fusion:
Hello everyone,
for me, this isn't working.
I downloaded some Inventor files from here and tried to upload "Models\Parts\Flower\FLower.ipt" (also attached here in this post) like described above to Fusion360. But this always ends in an unspecific conversion error. Also tried other IPT files from the samles, always the same problem.
So it this only a problem with the sample files, or a general issue?
Regards,
Michael
The *.ipt file that you attached indicates that it was last saved in Inventor 2019.
Can you try an *.ipt file from Inventor 2016 or earlier?
Thx TheCADWhisperer,
Inventor 2019 seemed to be the origin of the issue.
Your attached jeep example worked and I could upload and open it in Fusion!
Thx!
Ehm... so you "jeep.ipt" wasn't created / last saved with Inventor? Or why you say "rather startling that Fusion will not open Inventor files"?
I think the Jeep was created in Inventor 8.
I intentionally left out the Inventor release number in my previous statement.
It is only with great restraint that I am able to resist the temptation to write in a public forum what I really thing about Fusion (with it's fast release cycle) not able to open Inventor 2019 part files given that Inventor 2019 has probably been in development for some time. I can't help but wonder if the teams ever walk "across the hall" and talk to each other.
Piggy backing on this thread - have similar goal - import an IPT file into a drawing, but unfamiliar with F360's data panel info. Here's a capture of the panel and appletv.ipt file I want to import (creating a holder for my AppleTV):
When I right-click I get this minimal menu of things to do with the file - except for actually using it in a drawing. The file below is where I'd like to start - here's that pic - note the "expected" menu when right-clicking:
Really, I just want to use the IPT in a project to wrap a bracket around - ie, Insert Into Current Design.
What am I missing? Thx...
Hobby version for sure. I don't want to edit the .ipt - just use the dimensions to wrap a bracket around it. Thoughts?
After uploading the IPT files to the cloud and try to open it in fusion 360 it opens a webpage https://myhub.autodesk360.com
where I can only view the object but not work on or with it.
Is there a way to import it so I can work on it?

Are you using a commercial license or are you using a free personal license?
