(I hope I wrote in the correct place on the forum, I have some problems with English )
Hi 🖐
I just started learning 3D modeling and got stuck on one of the basics - camera control. Even from the games, the habit of rotating the camera with the right mouse button remained, but here it draws some kind of scribbles and then a menu pops up.
🤔😶
I went to study from video clips, from where I learned that the middle mouse button is used for rotation, but here's the problem - they have not worked for me for several years and have never been needed until that moment.
I went into the settings and searched for a long time where you can change the control. I had to google it again.😒 (Why have to google how to do such a simple thing?) Ok, google it. The answer struck me: there are no such settings!😲 ??? All that is offered is the built-in control settings from other programs. The only remaining method of rotating the camera is the awkward cube!
Are you guys serious? Such a cool company, such a cool program, a large team of specialists, and no one has done such a basic and super important thing as "setting up control"?
When I saw this program, I fell in love at first sight (despite the problems with the English language), and as soon as I got acquainted with it, I experienced irritation and suffering. What kind of untouchable girl is this, with whom it is impossible to negotiate?

If you set the control settings to "Tinkercad" then you can use the right mouse button to rotate. and the middle mouse button or scroll wheel click to pan. I don't ever use the view cube for rotating, or panning. I use it only for orthogonal views.
Then you'll have to press the shift key to use the the pie menu or gesture commands. I personally don't use those, because all my most used commands are mapped to the "S"-Key menu.
In general, however, you better get used to this. I work with 3 different CAD systems (Fusion 360, ZW3D, SolidWorks), and a Polygon/Sub-D modeling software (Blender) and all have different mouse controls. I've given up trying to set up the same controls on all of them. It usually only take a minute or two of "warmup" to get used to each systems specific mouse control.
For CAD I have used 3D Connexion devices for at least 15 years. I currently use a wireless space mouse. It's hard to go back and live without them. It's less useful Blender.

I have never heard of such a mouse, it sounds interesting. But the price is equal to the monthly salary of a doctor in my country.
It is much cheaper to customize the controls for yourself than to buy devices for this. Moreover, the work should be comfortable and pleasant. Convenience is one of the keys to comfortable work.
I've worked with CAD and other 3D modeling software for 30 year professionally.
I fully understand the cost hurdle, and it might just be unavailable in your country. If convenience is what you are looking for, however, this device is a game changer!
You don't "need" the device, however, and when I model in Blender, I don't use it at all. As I have mentioned before, with a little experience and patience you can quickly adapt to almost any mouse control settings. I forgot to add the the Web Viewer for Fusion 360 designs also uses slightly different mouse controls and Visual Components, another software I use professionally also uses slightly different mouse controls. In the end your ability to adapt is of much greater importance then convenience and comfort.
Just to be clear, I do support the request for better ability to customize these controls! But it is what it is, so in the meantime ...
Thanks, 'Tinkercad' control settings is not perfect, but quite suitable!
