In place design or import an assembly and joint.

Hi

I`ve been reprimanded for creating parts then bring them into the design. At the moment I brought

an assembly in (Linear_Assembly) and wanted to fix it to (Mount_Plate_LinearZ_to_THK)

In Fusion can you dimension an assembly to another component after you joint them to establish a precise

location. Or again should I have created a sketch for the Linear_Assembly in the current design then extruded it.

I Fusion 360 you use joints to precisely locate components and assemblies in reference to each other. In your case it sounds like you want to use a rigid joint with an offset.

 

You should also probably look at Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1

I`ve seen this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZB63JMUcVM Those joints don`t look difficult because most of them align to round objects. In my case, it's one rectangular assembly that needs to be positioned against another surface of a component. It almost seems like there are not enough joint options to precisely align one component to other.
