This is a feature request that I think is very important. This is causing me loads of frustration currently every time I try to do it.
Fusion has a Replace Component feature that allows you to replace one component with another. The problem is it just mechanically swaps them without any regard to references. All the joints and constraints and references immediattely break down.
There's a very simple way to solve this the way other systems do it. Here's an example from Creo.
It opens both parts in the same window, lists and highlights all the edges, surfaces, etc that are used on the swapped out component as references by something else in the assembly and allows you to one by one select corresponding features on the component that you're swapping in. It also has an automatic guess feature where the system figures out references itself and does a good job if the parts are at all similar.
But this interface allows you to manually swap anything and not have your timeline completely fall over the way it happens in Fusion. It can't do anything about assembly contexts ofcourse, but for these you can manually break link.
Pleeease! Can we have something similar? It's so frustrating to work without it.
