Importing DWG missing text

I'm new to Fusion and know nothing about Autocad.

I have a DWG file that I am able to import into FS360, but the text does not come through.  The creator of the DWG file tried sending it to me with different typefaces/fonts, but that didn't solve the problem.  Anything else we can try?

A slightly related question:  When I try to create a drawing from the design (which is a 2D architectural plan), placing the base view shows only a small empty square in the middle of the drawing.  Am I doing something wrong here also?

Thank you!

Hi @Anonymous

At the risk of asking a silly question... The creator is converting the font to outlines before exporting, correct?

As for the second part of your question, if you could provide a screenshot that would be helpful.

Also if you add your DWG here I can try it and see what there is to see.

This sounds like you have not created any 3d geometry. Fusion is not a replacement for AutoCAD it will not read text or dimensions in the DWG. If you import a sketch it's best practice to dimension and fully define in Fusion, even if dimensions where imported they would not be associative so you'd need to re dimension anyway.

The DWG contains only 2D info.  I was indeed hoping to use Fusion 360 as a basic Autocad substitute in this respect.

Thank you for your help!

Hi @Anonymous

If you attach your .dwg to the thread we can take a look at it and see why it's not coming through.
