Importing 2D files

New at this so this may be elementary. 

When I tried to create a sketch on my imported drawing the drawing would vanish, and I'd have an empty grid on the display.  When I zoom out I find my drawing is a great distance from the origin where the create sketch centers on.  It seems that whatever grid location the drawing was saved on will be in the same location when you import it. (that is the elementary part I suppose )

 I just saved the original drawing with a new origin (0,0).  Now it imports positioned exactly like it is the parent program.

Welcome to the Fusion forum.

Sounds like exactly what I would expect to find. Fusion is not going to reposition your geometry relative to the origin when importing a file. The assumption is that there is a reason the design is so far from the origin, after all, it's your data. 🙂

If you encounter this again, you could also move the bodies/components to Fusion's origin with Move.

Steps: Modify > Move > (Body or component filter) > Point to Point mode. Pick a point on the body that you want to move to 0,0,0, and then as your second point, pick the origin in the browser.

Unfortunately I was never endowed with great patience, and tend to just jump in at the deep end.  I'm now slowly working through the tutorials which have answered more questions.

I didn't think about where my drawing was placed when I copied, pasted, and saved it.   Now I know better.
