Great question.

Fusion reads the system fonts on your computer. In order for Fusion to see the font on the font list, you must install it to your system fonts.

Fusion only supports TTF for modeling operations. OTF should display in sketches, but you can't make them 3D.

Just curious: are you intending to extrude the font?

After install a speciffic font, and rebboted the pc, this font does not appear in the text tool in Fusion.
The font is TrueType Outlines format, any problem with this one?

Can you tell me what the specific font name is? And what is the file extension for it?

Did you reboot your computer after making the changes in Control Panel?

Hello,

The font name is DIN Black, and the format is True Type font file (.tttf).

And yes I rebbot the pc after installed the font.

Another strange issue is if I import a svf file with text, and in this case with the DIN Black font, Fusion360 will automatically convert to Arial font.

The conversion happens when the font required is not recognized or is not present on your system.

Unfortunately our firewall is blocking every free font site I can find DIN Black at. Can you also attach that so I can try it out?

I have asked the sketch team to look at this issue. In this case, it may be some technical limitation that is preventing Fusion from using these fonts in sketches. I don't have a workaround other than using a recognizable font (for Fusion that is).

I received confirmation that the font is blocked in Model space because it has properties that will lead to a bad experience after extruding it. These same fonts can be used in 2D Fusion drawings because there is no 3D shape required, just displaying the font is not a problem. I've asked if there is any way to improve Fusion to accept more fonts, but for now just assume if you can't see it in Model space it's blocked for a good reason.

Not sure if it helps in your case but what I did with letters I want to cut was change them to outline paths in Inkscape (already had the logo in Inkscape with modified fonts).  Then import to Fusion.  Done that way they are just shapes and Fusion doesn't need to know anything else about the fonts.  Then extrude or whatever else you want to do.

That's good to know. We're looking at your font to see if Fusion can be improved to use it.

I suppose it goes without saying, but Solidworks and Fusion have different 3D modeling methods. There may be minor differences such as this. Thanks for bringing it up, we are happy to look at improving Fusion for such a request.

Update:

Fusion 360 blocks symbolic fonts. These are blocked because they very often cause crashing issues. Eventually we may improve Fusion to accept these fonts, but it's not a high priority given all the other more useful (and common) things we are working on.

The font DIN Black itself is not marked as a regular text font. To Fusion it appears to be a symbolic font. So the font itself is a bit defective in this regard.

We are looking at this font to see what can be done in the short term. However, support for it, or other symbolic fonts, is not expected to happen in any of the next few updates.
