Import SVG problem

If you try inserting an SVG file before starting a sketch you need to select a plane for the SVG to use. After selecting the plane the Sketch Palette appears and covers the SVG dialog, you have to select insert SVG again to get it on top of the Sketch Palette.

The dialogs will appear where they last sat, so if the sketch pallete sits right where you keep the SVG dialog, then yes, this will happen. I can easily reproduce this and it's as-designed. Dialogs that are free floating will not "push" each other around as they appear. So they may appear right on top of each other.

Try View > Reset to default layout and try again. Do you get the same result as I do? See below.

FYI: Also you can dock dialogs by dragging their title bar to the right until you see a green line.

I thought I had my toolbars docked to the right side of the screen, but it seems I just had them at the right side of the screen but undocked. Not I have them docked correctly it work as your example.

Thanks Mark.

With the toolbars docked I seem to have another problem. Dialogs no longer expand when something's selected.

I've tried undocking and expanding the dialog then redock but the next time they open they go back to the small size.

I've seen that before, but it seems to go away randomly. Can you try to dock the dialogs in different order and try again? Also, a video may help, if you have time could you make a Screencast showing you working with it? Are you on Mac?

You'll notice that dialogs can dock together in any order. Thanks!

Sorry can't make a Screencast i don't use the Aero desktop and without that none of the dialogs show in the movie. One way I found that quite reliably show the problem is in a sketch select a curve then click on inspect then close then select the curve again and click inspect. About every other time the dialog doesn't expand. I'm on a PC by the way.

Thanks for the repeatable steps. That is perfect. There is now a defect logged (internally as UP-20492) to track this.
