Import Sketches

Hello,

New to Fusion trying it out from Geomagic Design. I have a bunch of parts in Geomagic that I would like

to bring into Fusion. Is there a way for me to import my sketch drawings into Fusion. Once imported I will

be able to use extrude, revolve ect ect on the sketches.

If anyone could let me know how I can copy my sketches into fusion  that would be helpfull.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the post!  There are several ways of import geometries to sketches, add some for your reference. Please raise any question or comment if have. Thanks!

Could Geomagic support exporting 2d sketches into DXF or DWG file?

1. If you have dwg/dxf file (exported from your original sketches), you could update them to Fusion on data panel "project page":

After uploaded (Fusion automatically translate from dwg/dxf to f3d file), so you could direclty open it and do modeling with the sketches

2. If you have SVG file, you could use "Insert SVG" to Fusion sketch:

Is there a size limit to the imported file or is there a limit to the number of layers? i am trying to import a file that is 2.89 megs and has 131 layers. fusion says that the file is imported and all i get in the preview panel is 2 dots. attached is the file. and when i try and open it up the program locks up.

I think some of the problem is how spread out the drawing is. This is what I get in Rhino when I draw a rectangle around all the curve in the file.

I tried moving everything closer but it still doesn't open. After looking a the drawing a bit more I think the problem is the amount of information in the file, there are over 76,000 curves in the file most of them in these to views. (69,000 curves)

Fusion really doesn't work well with lots of 2d information like your file. You might get the rest of the file in if you delete the 2 views above.
