Import from Mcmaster-Carr - multiple copies

If I import a bolt from McMaster Carr and need four of the same size, what is the correct way to make copies.  Do I copy and paste or paste new?  It looks like each bolt is now its own component if I do this.

The other issue I need assistance with is the bill of material.  One drawing I did, had each bolt listed separately (four of the same thing), instead of one listed with the correct quantity.  The next test I did, I can't get any of the bolts to show up in the BOM.

I figured I must be doing something incorrectly.

Thanks in advance.

Using copy and paste will give you 4 bolts that are linked. So if you assign a material or appearance to 1, it will also affect the other 3. This will also streamline your BOM because the bolt will be listed with a quantity of 4 instead of 4 separate bolts.

Copy and paste new will create 4 separate, unlinked bolts. Changes won't propagate and the BOM will show 4 separate bolts.

I'm not sure why the bolts wouldn't show up in the BOM unless you accidentally imported them into another component, thus making them a sub-component.

That makes sense.  The bolts that did not show up are listed under another component.  I dragged and dropped them under the main level, and they now show up with the correct quantity.

Again, thanks for the help.
