Hi! I'm creating a complex model with several configurations. My plan is to share that file with other users and I know configurations is currently on the paid version which is what I personally have. But will users with a free account be able to open, and use the configurations if the free version of Fusion 360 does not have configuration enabled?

Correct me if I'm wrong. With a free version they will only be able to modify the configurations, not add new ones. Is this correct?

I noticed when I saved the file it got converted to a configuration file. Does that affect anything on accessibility for anyone?

Hi @leo.marc.gulli

You are right.  Hobbyist (or free) users will be able to access the Configured Designs and open them.  They can make changes to the configured parameters in the Parameters table.  But they cannot create new configurations.

When you configure some aspects (parameters, feature suppression, etc) of a standard design and save it, we create a new Configured Design from it.  The original standard design becomes the first configuration in that Configured Design.  Any other design that had links to that original standard design will now start referencing the first configuration instead on update.  There should be no other changes.

Hope this helps.

Guatham, you have been very helpful in your response. Thank you!!
Glad to know free users can still access and use the files.
