How to sketch new component referencing existing component

I probably am misunderstanding something fundamental, but I would like to create a new component (i.e. create a sketch) and reference an existing component in terms of sizing and position. My new sketch lines don't snap to any points on the existing component.

How do you create a new component that is sized and aligned to an existing component?

Two things, as a new Fusion 360 Forum user you should know.  First, when you receive an answer, to your Forum post, that solves your issue you should acknowledge that post by selecting the Accept Solution icon on the post that gave you the answer.  Take a look at this Forum post for further explanation and reasons to do this.

Second, do not use the "Quick Reply" icon to reply to a post since that addresses the Forum post to yourself.  Use the "Reply" icon on the post of the person you are responding to.
