How to Rotate an Object to Align Geometry to a Specific Axis

Hi all,
I have a gear which I need to align so that the teeth are positioned to one of the main axes, but after attempting this with the align and movement tool (among others), I can't figure out how it can be done. Basically, I need to rotate the object so that if a line was drawn from the midpoint of one tooth, through the center of the gear, and to the midpoint of another tooth, that line would align with one of the x, y, or z axes. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, and let me know if any more info is needed.
Could not get the screencast to work the guide on it had the same error and couldn't fix it so I just pasted the link above.
Also, sorry if the file is a bit messy with extra bodies and whatnot I haven't gotten to cleaning it up yet.
