How to return to sketch object dialogue box?

Sorry for a really basic query - I'm just learning Fusion 360, having previously used SolidWorks from time to time.  One thing I find strange is that I cannot return to a command to change the parameters.  The tutorial videos assume you "get it right first time" - what if you don't?

For instance, here I am creating a pattern of arcs in a sketch:

Having created the pattern, suppose I want to modify it (change spacing, number of instances etc)?

It seems logical to right-click on one of the patterned features, but none of the pop-up options take me back to this dialogue box:

"Repeat rectangular pattern" generates a whole new pattern rather than editing the existing one.  I have tried right-clicking on the timeline too:

Help!

Thanks.

Hi Roger,

that´s how it works.

Hi, thanks, somehow it works for you but when I right-click I get a different set of menus:

Going through to the "Sketch" options doesn't help either:

Maybe I have a different version?  Mine is 2.0.3803, Fusion 360 Ultimate, Student.

Same as in SolidWorks - it is almost always better to pattern Feature rather than Sketch element.

You have the latest version.

File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here.

After playing around a bit more, I've found a work-around.

I can get your right-click menus if I only have one sketch object (the circle):

image.png

If however I have more than one sketch object (e.g. a line and a pattern of circles) then I don't get the "Edit rectangular pattern" menu, instead I get this:

I would call this a bug - I see from comments in previous posts that people find it very disconcerting if a program behaves differently depending on the circumstances.  One keeps thinking: "I'm sure I've managed this before....how did I do it?...why won't it work now?"

The work-around is to use the Modify/Change parameters menu:

Then change the spacing, count etc as desired:

Happiness at last!

Thanks.  Yes, with hindsight patterning the arc features would have been better (I wanted to put them around a curve - hadn't realised there is a useful "Path pattern" option to do this).

Interestingly, if I try "Modify/Change parameters" on my sketch the dialogue box shows one pattern but actually there are two (vertical with 2 instances, horizontal with 6 instances) so there should be "Pattern1" and "Pattern2"...maybe a bug?

Hi,

you have to click the pattern symbol, not the sketch elements!

Ah!  Yes, that was what I thought I was doing.  Actually you have to left-click the pattern symbol to select it, then right-click it.

Thanks very much.

About patterning features/bodies instead of sketch elements: I am trying to draw a pattern of holes with bosses around them:

image.png

I tried making the bosses with an extruded cut down the middle, but of course the main slab fills them back in.   So now I have a pattern of bosses (bodies) and a pattern of holes (faces).  This works well enough, but it seems inelegant to use two patterns, with the same count and spacing for each.  Is there a better way?

Thanks for all your help

Roger
