How to remove unwanted lines

Here is how you can get rid of unwanted lines on your surfaces.  Sometimes you are left over with unwanted lines on your surface from previous modeling operations.  Using this method you can remove this unwanted geometry so that you have a clean surface to work with:

  • Fist you have to highlight the surfaces which contain the unwanted geometry and create an offset surface at 0.00 distance (this is similar to creating a copy surface). 
  • Next create a thicken operation, this will create a body out of your surfaces.  
  • Now here is the ambiguous part, you have to switch over to the solid workspace tab in order to delete the unwanted face.  Just select and delete.  fusion will recalculate the solid surface as one continuous face.   
  • Select the newly created face and offset at 0.00 distance.
  • Now repeat this process until you have all the surfaces that you need to stich together your model. 

separating  this operation into multiple sections will avoid getting error messages when recalculating the face, this depends on the complexity and geometry of the surface which you are working with.

 

The newly recalculated surface as far as I can tell, is identical to the original surface.  You can use section analysis or interference to check if it is slightly changed, i guess it depending on the geometry of your model and in some cases you may get a variance.  I would be careful and double check if you are working with and item which has very fine tolerances such as an injection mold or tool parts as a slight change in your surface geometry could ruin your part or not make it as intended so use at your own risk.

Display Settings > Visual Style > Shaded 

does it in the graphics workspace, if that's your end game....

If you need the original surface, just move the timeline marker back to before the operation that dissects the surface and create a copy of the surface using a 0mm offset.
