Blender and Fusion 360 operate mostly on two entirely different types of data unless you are talking about T-Splines. You can export a T-Spline control cage from Fusion 360 in .obj format and work with it in Blender.

If you model is a solid model then you can export it in .stl format, which is a triangulated mesh. If you want to continue modeling in Blender then your options are limited.

What does your friend want to do with the model in Blender ?

@gurinderjeetsingh7

you can also use Maya or MOI to load STEP Fusion export and mesh them better and export them as OBJ.

Fusion 360 till today still fails surprisingly to support OBJ export with NGONS and UV maps.

Fusion OBJ or STL export is only useful for 3D printing but nothing more.

I assume in Blender you want to use Cycles so you want to get good UV mapped OBJ exports!

You can send him a public link to your design right from the data panel in Fusion 360. That will allow your friend to view the 3D model in the web viewer in Fusion 360 with textures, decals, etc.

And this is how that would look like:

That's really no competition.  Blender's animation system blows Fusion 360's animation system out of the water by a large margin. I've animated 6-Axis robots (Staeubli and Fanuc) 10 years ago more smoothly and easily than it is possible in Fusion 360 today. The keyword here is bones and a fully implemented IK Solver using quaternions.

Blender for sure offers more animation capabilities like any 3d modeling and animation app compared to fusion 360.

that is also logical. Fusion lacks also deformation tool which make animation in blender so useful.

however one has to understand the target for animation or rendering in fusion.

i would say that the typical mechanical design CAD user also lacks the understanding of how to do animations at a level we would do. In that case we are esucational hybrids.

but I have to say that the joint and component system in fusion is great when modeling a design while it is already posed and that blender cannot offer at the same level.

joints in fusion are pretty easy to use and powerful.

at the end it also comes down to what you need and then pick the right app for it.

I may be ice_screenshot_20190516-114359.png2 years late, but, Fusion does allow for STL & FBX and several other file types, however, you cannot simply export from fusion.

You must DOWNLOAD these files types on the web. Click your files version number to see more details, then click 'View Details on Web'. Once the browser loads, you will have an option to download several common file types. This will then send you an email link to your download.

There are many things I like about Fusion, but their File management, export options, and limited (and buggy) animation are very big pain points for me.

That the joints you took so much time and effort to place and tweak can't be used in animations absolutely KILLS me.
