How to move object/sketch between files?

Anonymous

Hi,

I'm trying to move an object/sketch between two different files. I just want to use a part I've already designed in one file to another file. I've tried copy and paste, no joy.  I'm sure it's super simple, but I'm just missing how to do it.

Thanks,

Jeff

You can copy components but not bodies or sketches.  This means you need to have the bodies and sketches in a component.  See Rule#1.  If you have linked parts, those links will need to be broken first.

Attach your file if this doesn't work for you.

Hi Jeffkalive,

You can copy/paste sketch geometries across different sketches in different documents.  But you cannot copy the sketch(the browser or timeline node) to another document. There is currently a bug that if you copy some sketch geometries inside one sketch, then you go to another sketch and right mouse click to bring up the context menu, you will not find the "Paste" menu item if you click on empty area.  You need to click on some geometry like the sketch origin to see the "Paste" item shown, then you can do the copy/paste without any problems.

Our developer is still working on the bug fix of the "missing paste item" issue. And hopefully it will be addressed soon.
