How to move a point, numerically

Anonymous

While attempting (fruitlessly so far) to enter a point by its coordinates, I tried to set it first to 0,0,0 and then move it. The point was the starting point of a simple line.

When I left-click the point I want to move, a dialog opens, offering fields for the movement in all axes. So far, so  nice. But when I enter a parameter, the dialog closes immediately after I entered the first numerical or -character. I can open it again and enter the desired value, but only character by character.

The same happens when I use the move-tool from the editing tool selection menu.

What do I do wrong, or is that a feature, or a hidden constraint?

Hi @Anonymous - just wanted to confirm it looks like you found a way to do this here using the program Brian Ekins wrote?

Sorry, nope, not yet there. I'll report the result asap, but am tied up right now by an urgent project.

If you clicked on the origin then yes there will be a coincident constraint, it seems to be a convention among solid modelers to hide constraints generated when you snap to a point. To delete the constraint click on the point and hold the mouse button down until the selection menu pops up, you will probably have a choice of 2 points, the top point on the menu will be the last created. With the point selected right click and there should be an option to delete.

Selection menu.

Right click menu.

Edit it looks like just right clicking the point without the selection menu will give you the option to delete the constraint without bothering with the selection menu.
