How to Lock Things Down

Hello

As the subject says. I have numerous components which have just found out have moved around. I have been repositioning and extruding for hours and I have finally realised what's going on.  The structure is basically a book shelf no movement required but I will still need to tweak the design.

So what are my options? whats the difference between grounding, rigid joints and fixing etc

Thanks

Hi @docara,

You can use the Ground command (right click on the component in the browser, and choose Ground).  This will ground the components in absolute space.  Or you can use the Rigid joint or Rigid Group.  This will create a rigid relationship between the components, so that things can move, but they will move together as a group.

Hi Jeff,

So I can use ground on multiple components / objects then its not meant to be the first object constructed on the 'base' plane or bottom locking them in as the name suggests?

Grounding locks the origin of the grounded component to the top level origin.

Rigid Grouping locks the origins of the involved components in relation to each other.

It you click on the root of the browser and select rigid group and keep "Include child components" then all component origins, including the top level will be frozen in relation to each other.
