How to insert a PDF file into a drawing

Online videos have folks using the Canvas command to place PDF pictures in drawings, to use as guides.

Alas, my computer only allows 'image' files to be uploaded with the Canvas command.  I'm not sure why

the YouTube folks can accomplish this magical feat.  Did I get a bum software copy?

Thanks guys.  I'm new to this software and find some items problematic.

Are you meaning inserting a .pdf into a sketch in the model workspaces or a drawing in the drawing workspaces?

Please post a URL to one of these Youtube videos you speak of that use a PDF file for a Canvas image.

You can go to this website and convert any PDF to JPG you desire for free.  You can then use it as a Canvas in your model sketch.

I'm not aware of any way to directly import a PDF into a canvas but I very often have to do a similar thing in SolidWorks in my day job. I always use the 'Take a Snapshot' command in Adobe Acrobat Reader (click 'Take a Snapshot', then drag out a rectangular area to copy to the clipboard), paste this into your favourite image editor (I tend to use the Microsoft 'Paint' application for this), save as a .jpg or .png and insert this into your canvas.

If this answers your question please mark the thread as solved as it can help others find solutions in the future.

If you need to know how to offset threads for 3D printing then I've created a guide here which you might find useful.
If you would like to send me a tip for any help I've provided or for any of my software applications you've found useful, you can do this via my Ko-Fi page here.
