How to import and open a scanned gasket at the correct size

Every time I scan a gasket for tracing round, it imports at the wrong size, is there a correct way to do this. so it the correct size in fusion 360??

Ahhhh, I should have waited for your answer.

But you should have enough clues now to get started.

(You could change the Document Units in the file that I attached and edit the dimensions as needed.  Will have to Calibrate the image again.  You can drag the sketch in the timeline to before the canvas to line things up after entering appropriate dimensions, then drag it back to the beginning.  Use the image as reference - there will be some parallax error.  You are not going to get the image to 100% accurate as it isn't accurate to begin with.)

Knowing the smallest dimension, creates the largest error.

 

Research the actual dimension for the top to bottom hole centres.

Import the canvass and Calibrate that dimension to those holes.

Start a sketch, draw a line between those holes, at the correct length and angle.

Measure the line angle to an Origin axis.

 

Now edit the canvass, rotate it, that measured angle.  
While you are at it, slide the canvass so that you have a logical Origin position.

 

Edit the sketch and add / delete detail as required….
