Hi,

To retain the dimensions, mesh files should be inserted into the current work space using Insert > Insert mesh instead of File > Open.

you have to calibrate your canvas after inserting it.

Can you confirm this is a 2D image scan rather than a 3D mesh scan?

EDIT: Sorry we cross posted - you've answered my question.

If this answers your question please mark the thread as solved as it can help others find solutions in the future.

I've created a Windows application (and now Mac as well) for creating custom thread files for Fusion. You can find out about it here. Hope you find it useful.
If you need to know how to offset threads for 3D printing then I've created a guide here which you might find useful.
If you would like to send me a tip for any help I've provided or for any of my software applications you've found useful, you can do this via my Ko-Fi page here.

@dchannon

Attach your “scan” file here (whatever format it is).

Someone here will demonstrate how to run Calibrate.

So it doesn't bring it in the correct size you still have to size it?? How.

If your scan is from a typical flatbed scanner it should, when inserted as a Canvas be at the correct size ( or very very close at least. If not you can Right click on the Canvas' Icon in the Tree and Calibrate. Have you done this before?

Do you own calipers or at least a scale for measuring?

Ok this may be advantaged by some White Board marker dots on the scanner glass and calibrate those. Some say add a steel rule on the Scanner bed...I use dots!img008_jpg.jpg

In that case I would measure the interface geometry that gasket sits on, not the "soft" rubber gasket.

Photocopier and even flat bed scanners also use optical systems and distort geometry to some degree.

Once you have sorted you how to get the imagery into Fusion 360 and calibrated, I would stick to lines and arcs to represent the geometry. Don't uses splines.

Can you provide information on a real world diameter of one of the features?

What are you desired units? mm? inches?
