How to get rid of sketch lines after extrude?

If I take a sketch, and extrude the center region, everything works fine. (No sketch lines are visible after the extrude)

. . . works as expected, with no sketch lines visible:

However, if I go back into the sketch for any reason (to fully constrain the sketch, or make ANY changes at all) . . .

. . . and then extrude, the unsightly sketch lines are shown with the solid body after the extrude.

In the picture below, I didn’t make ANY changes. I merely went back to edit the sketch, without any changes. Then I re-extruded (again, with no changes to the sketch), but the unsightly sketch lines still remain with the solid body.

What am I doing wrong? How can I avoid having these unsightly sketch lines after my Extrude feature?

Please note: Preferences >> Design >> Auto hide sketch on feature creation is checked. I know I can uncheck Display Options >> Object Visibility >> Sketches, but while that removes the unsightly lines from my solid body after the Extrude, it also makes the sketch invisible when I go into the Sketch again, so I’d have to re-check the Object Visibility >> Sketches box each time I want to view the sketch (which would be highly annoying).

Many thanks in advance for any guidance!

How about sketch visibility within the browser? I mean the little eye icon close to it. Have you made it visible during the process? If so, just make it invisible again.

Also you mentioned you "re-extruded" sketch after editing it. Would you elaborate what steps do you do?

. . . Ahhh. Yes, the "eye" is the answer. The difference in behavior I observed is that the first time I extrude the sketch, it turns off the "eye" automatically, but when I go back in and do another extrude, it turns the "eye" on. Thank you!

Sketch visibility is not normally controlled by create / editing solid features.

Your Preference setting, Hide After first Feature, does just that, make a sketch, make a solid from it, the sketch will be hidden - by that preference.  This setting only works first time.

Any other work in the file, now relies on the eyeball status,

on, will show the sketch,

off, hides it.

Same for eyeball status of bodies, joints, construction and other browser entries.

Might help.....
