How To Edit a Form

Once I create a T-spline form how do I modify the basic dimensions? I've tried selecting Edit Form under Modify, which lets me morph it, but I am looking for the dialogue box with the basic dimensions that appears when you first create the form. This seems so basic, but I've watched a number of tutorials, tried various things in the program, searched the forum etc. and nothing has shown this.

I've RMC in the window and then click Edit, which gives a dialogue window and have tried many variations, but they all just let me move the shape or modify one element or expand all of it.

Thanks. I had tried that but nothing dropped down below the arrow, hadn't figured out I had to click on the form for them to show up.

However the numbers don't relate to the numbers I entered for the form. I made a square 123x114x172mm and now want to change the height to 125.4mm. I can enter a mm in of the Distance windows, but the Scale windows look to be multiples. How do I change it to the dimension I want?

Also where is the window to set the number of faces? Why have one set of options when you create the form and not offer a similar window to edit it?

Thanks again.

Thank you for the great video, but it doesn't really show me how to do what I want. I want to know what the dimension is and to be able to change to a new measurement, just like when I first created it. I also want to add height symmetry, which I forgot to do when I first created it.

For example when you first add a Image, you can specify the opacity and various other parameters. If you want to edit it the same window opens allowing you to modify the opacity and all the other parameters you entered when you first loaded it.

It makes no sense to not know the dimension of an item without pulling out your virtual measuring tape and then having to modify it by a percentage of it's current dimension or to only know how much your adding without it displaying what the current dimension is.

I don’t know how this is possible in b-rep modulation, but that is one of the differences between parametric modeling

Hi,

If you are in Sculpt (TSpline) mode then there is NO WAY to go back and change dimension of box, later you can do only Modify -> Edit Form which you are already aware of.

There is a way as you can use scale operation (from Modify->Edit form tool) to scale up/down overall box size, and subdivide for adding more sub-division.

Sculpt workspace is not Parametric / History based (except Pipe feature).

It is frustrating and makes me not want to use the form function. I made a box, and there is no way to go back and resize it, even if it was the last thing I just created? In the sketch command, we can resize anything... but not in here. Also, there isnt a drop box when I go to edit the form. What's the point of editing when no drop box appears.

T-Splines (form objects can be edited after first creation.

Those edits are not recorded. For form object recording, editing action makes little sense 😉
