Have spent some time searching but haven't found out how to delete a empty project folder from the Fusion 360 Data Panel?

As far as I know you can't delete project folders at this time, but what you can do is right click on them in the browser and archive them. That will remove them from your browser.

I guess that would account for not finding anything 🙂

Actually I did find instructions but they did not appear to apply to the current version, layout was different.

Thanks

You can only delete folders in the project folder unless something has changed.

This is one of the reasons I created a master project folder that is nothing but a container for all my other projects.

Then when you create a folder that will contain your project under that master folder they can be deleted if needed.

Not ideal but it works, I seem to remember that the dev team was going to address this issue at some point, they can correct me if I'm wrong.

Rather than archive an empty project why not just rename it and use it for your next project.

Another reason I use a master project folder is I can add a hardware folder with subfolders like screws, nuts, bolts etc. and all my projects in the master project folder can use those pieces of hardware. If I move a part or an assembly that uses those parts I don't get move errors IF I still have linked components. (Which I usually try not to ever have but sometimes it is needed)

This keeps data neat and organised in my data panel too.

MASTER PROJECT

  Hardware

    Screws

    Nuts

    Bolts

    Brackets

    Etc

  Rapid prototype machines

    Delta

    Etc

  CNC mills

    Engraver

    3 axis

    Etc

The only Way I have found to delete a folder is to archive it. This gets rid of it.

oh, I also forgot to add to then go to the archived section on your online A360 profile and you will see a delete button there.

@Anonymous Yes that is the correct way. The 2 stage process is probably a good thing as there have been quite a few people complaining when they've deleted a design and can't get it back, it does warn you files can not be recovered but still people still do it.
