How to cut out from a Mesh?

I have two models...one has the section in it I want to cut out and the other is the model I want to cut out from.

Is there any way to take the form of the section I want to cut out and then subtract it from the other model?

For example...in one model I have a cyclinder with a dome at the bottom, it is the exactly size and shape I want to copy and subtract from another model, but how to do this?

Mesh? Or solid? Or surface?

Can you File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here?

I'm pretty sure its a mesh, how can I confirm?

On the left is the storm trooper with the section cut out in the centre...I want to cut the same section from the darth vader on the right.

I would highly suggest doing this in mesh mixer.  Fusion isn't very good at mesh manipulation.

You will probably first have to spend a couple of weeks learning MeshMixer (just like you did for Fusion) - there are numerous tutorials on YouTube.

Some are good - some are not so good.

mesh mixer is definitely a different mind set than fusion.  but I have been very surprised at some of the things i could do with it.   good tool to have in your tool box if you 3d print much or have to manipulate .stl files much.

I just saw what the union command did to the lower edges of the helmet. yikes! if you in-check "auto reduce results" in the union command it doesn't do that.
