how to create an extruded trapezoid

I am trying to make a solid that from the side appears to be a parallelogram in which no side is coplaner with an x, y, or z plane.  From the front view, the foremost face is a trapezoid.

I started by making a sketch of the side view, extruded it, and then tried to find a way to modify the extrusion so that the top of the extrusion was less deep (extruded not as far) as the bottom of the extrusion -- but I cannot find a way to make this last modification.

How can I accomplish this solid shape?

Perhaps a hand sketch of the final object would help.

hello just use the 3d sketch and create outlines. later use areas to raise the sides. finally staple together. voila

I am a total rookie, so I need more detailed guidance please.  (I have watched some tutorials, but what you are saying still does not mean anything to me.)

That response does not help.  I appreciate that you are an expert at this app, so I hoped you would provide a more helpful response than "forget it -- it's too easy"!

Here is another approach using completely arbitrary angles and noting is parallel to any of the origin plane.

Step through the timeline to see how it is constructed.
