How to create a triangle pattern on a dome?

I want to make a triangle pattern as shown in the attached image.

In my attempt (images attached), I drew a sketch on an offset plane and then embossed it onto the the dome and then used a circular pattern on the embossed feature. But as you can see in the attached image, the triangles don't align symmetrically with the shape of the dome. It starts to distort. Is there a way to make this pattern without it distorting?

Thanks!

The Forum users will have a lot easier time of helping you is you attach your model attempt.

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it. If needed, ZIP a F3Z file.

Start by Debossing four triangles. Circular pattern them then circular pattern the pattern on an axis 45 degrees from the first axis.

I didn't spend much time optimizing the patterns, but if you fully constrain the sketches, it shouldn't be too hard.

The reference image shows part of a geodesic dome. That is where you should start. There are a number of folks who have created YouTube videos on how to develop geodesic structures.
