How do I make a library of Fusion design files that others can access and use?

Hi,

I needed a way to share Fusion design files with my students, so I made a folder and shared it with my students. However, for them to access the files requires them to switch their team to the one I made. So once they're in, they can access all the part files and build assemblies, but then they can't save their work because they don't have permission. I want them to be able to access the library of parts but NOT be able to edit or delete any of the parts. I also want them to be able to save their assemblies when they're done, without having to export it (because then they would lose all the joints).

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I am pretty sure that this is one of the new features of fusion in the September update. I don't use this function so

I am not sure of the details but it is mentioned in the September video that things can be more easily shared.

I would see if there are any links to howtos or check the documentation.

Cheers

Andrew

Here's a link to the What's New blog for the September update.

You can also always find that from within Fusion:

I am not sure if it is possible for your Students to use (Insert into current design) a read-only file.

I am going to tag @CGBenner. Perhaps, he can answer the question, or he might be able to get another Fusion Team member to comment here.

Thanks for the tag @TrippyLighting   Sadly I don't know much about this, but perhaps @Phil.E has an idea?

Hi, thanks for asking.

Have you tried using folders with permissions?

Upgrade to folder level projects

You would own the projects and students would have read only access to some information and write access to only some locations, including a folder only they and you share.

While you are on that help page, browse the contents on the left panel for information about projects, working with groups, etc.
