How do I make a coiled ellipse?

I would like to make a simple ellipse coil. One 'rotation"  so from the front view the ellipse looks normal, but from the top view it is extended like a coil spring.  The coil tool will not make an ellipse, what do I do?

Create a coil with a triangular section, then use one the edges to do a sweep of your ellipse.

That gives me a circular coil of an ellipse section, and works well doing that, thanks! see the attached.  That is not what I am trying to accomplish.

I need a coiled ellipse with a circular section.  So instead of a circular coil in front view, it is an ellipse.

There is an add-on that create a helix spline, search for it, you can then scale the spline non-uniform and finally tube it. Actually I wonder why the developers did not make a helix tool that creates a sketch element.

How do you achieve this without deforming the cross sectional shape?

Well it's not clear at all to me.

Even by choosing triangular profile, the coil si circular and not elliptical.

I need to have a circular section of the wire, and the section of the coil must be elliptical. I really can't figure out how to get it properly done.

Surface Sweep a line for one turn (360 - twist angle)

Extrude the ellipse (> Intersect) to trim the coil to plan form ellipse.

Add Pipe to elliptical edge of the surface.

I have only endeavors since I'm not able to finish it ... I need just to design an coil with elliptical section instead of the standard circular one

Sorry I'm not able to fully follow what you described since I'm a noob ... many things are for you obvious, aren't for me 😕 Can you please repeat with step-by-step so I can execute and get the result done and also understanding what I'm doing?

Ah Ok I didn't explain myself good. Me bad.
That section (the section of the wire) should be circular. And this is as default since I can chose: circular/square/triangular.

the coil section should be elliptical instead. I mean: once the coil is finished and I watch it from the top, I have not to see a circle but an ellipse.

BTW - It probably would have been better to start a new thread with a link back to this old thread as reference.

The software changes and techniques we would have used 5 years ago aren't necessarily the same techniques we would use today.

Please in attachment the file ... as you will notice, the section of the coil must be oval. not the one of the wire.

@tormy.vancool I did answer to your other post but here's the file using your specifications. It shouldn't be too distorted as the pitch is shallower then in my other try.

Step 1, Draw a vertical centre line (Path - black) Draw a horizontal line, (Profile - blue) on Front plane.

Sizes that suit you.

ecfot1DB.PNG

Step 2 Surface > Create > Sweep the blue line around / up the black line.  Circular for now.

ecfot2DB.PNG

step 3 Hide your work.  New Sketch draw your ellipse on base plane.

ecfot3DB.PNG

Step 4 Unhide the Sweep body, Solid > Extrude the Ellipse set the operations to Intersect.

(will cut the outside area of the sweep body away.)  Set to Cut, will cut the inside away, won't matter for next steps.

ecfot4DB.PNG

Intersected - looks like this.

ecfot5DB.PNG

Step 5 Add the Solid > Create > Pipe, > circular > size to suit. Select the edge of the elliptical coil.

ecfot6DB.PNG

Hide / Remove the surface body
