How do I create a sketch on the center of a round body?

Hi,

I'm quite new to 3D design and my first "playground" project is to create a replacement shower head holder.

I measured the lower part of the shower head and created a shape which should be able to hold it. You can see a picture of it below.

While the creation of the "holder" body worked quite straightforward, I'm now stuck when trying to create the wall mount part, more specific how to attach it the the first holder body.

Should I design the wall mount first and then attach it to the holder, or should I somehow extend the existing body?

The holder should be located in the middle (vertically and horizontally) of the holder (see yellow arrow). But as the shape is round, how should I create a sketch there and locate the proper centers?

Thanks in advance

You cannot diretly sketch on a round/curved surface.

You can create a construction plane target to that curved surface and then sketch on it. then you can project those sketch elements onto that round surface.

However, if that last step makes sense depends on what you want to do with the projected sketch elements.

You can create tangent construction plane attached to your cylinder and continue sketching from it. Or you can create other bodies from sketching them in the your first sketch. It depends what exactly you want to achieve.

The tangent plane was just what I needed, thank you!
